Children
Dentistry
Children's
teeth begin forming before they are even born. The first primary,
or baby teeth, to erupt through the gums are the lower central
incisors at 6 months old. You should begin brushing
your child's teeth as soon as they appear, until
your child reach approximately eight years old. However, it does
not mean your child does not have to learn how to brush their
own teeth. Supervise their brushing to ensure proper brushing
habits are adopted. Then follow by the parents brushing the child's
teeth to ensure every nooks and corners are cleaned to prevent
decay. You can start scheduling the child's dental visit from
as young as 6 months old, after the first teeth erupt, follow
by a regular 6 months check-up.During
these visits, our dentist will help to detect any flaws in oral
hygine. Decays will be treated and oral care education will be
enhanced. We will probably recommend dental
sealant for your child’s teeth to reduce
decay. They are plastic coatings which are painted
onto the grooved chewing surfaces at the back of the teeth. Children's
dentistry can be very gentle and comfortable for your children
if you make it a routine visit, rather than wait for the pain
to occur then only bring them in for extractions (which I believe
what most of us from the older generation had experienced. What
a phobic memory!).
